Betty Jo (Combest) Wheat, of the Sano community, passed from this life Friday, June 6, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 80 years of age.
Born May 23, 1945, in Anderson, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Phillip and Ruth Bledsoe Combest. Betty retired from the Russell Springs Water Department and was a faithful member of the French Valley Church for over 60 years.
Survivors include her loving husband of over 62 years, Lynn Wheat, of Sano; two sons, Mitchell (Patsy) Wheat, of Russell Springs, and Micah Wheat, of Chicago; three grandchildren, C’Ann (Ben) Hammond, of Russell Springs, K’Lyn Thomas, of Sano, and Nickota (Evelyn) Wheat, of Newnan, Georgia; eight great-grandchildren, Molly Hammond, Annslee Hammond, Jacob Hammond, Olivia Hammond, Ayden Dykes, Jacklyn Thomas, Eli Roman, and Koda Wheat; three sisters, Glenda (Danny) Coffey, of Jamestown, Nancy (Steve) Shepard, of Russell Springs, and LaDonna Cooper, of Liberty.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Dale Combest; brother-in-law, Rick Cooper; and sister-in-law, Betty Hale.
Funeral services are 11:00 AM CST Friday, June 13, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. David Blair, Bro. Charles Edwards, and Bro Carroll Egnew officiating. Burial will follow in Russell County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, June 12 and resume Friday morning at 8:00 AM, until time of services.
Todd Whittle, Joe Lake, Ben Hammond, Adam Shepard, Ayden Dykes, and Nickota Wheat will serve as pallbearers.
