Bro. Calvin Theodore “Ted” Johnson, of Tompkinsville, passed from this life to his eternal home on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the Monroe County Medical Center, after a long illness, with Lea Ann, his wife of 22 years by his side. He was 58 years of age.
Ted was born Wednesday, September 15, 1965, in Louisville, the first-born child of William Robert and Jean Grider Johnson. Growing up in Russell County, Ted loved to go fishing. He was a member of The Springs Church in Russell Springs when he heard his call to preach. At the time of his passing, he had ministered for over 28 years, currently serving at the Tompkinsville First United Methodist Church and at Gamaliel United Methodist Church.
Ted had previously worked for H & R Block and as a wastewater tech for the city of Jamestown.
He is survived by his wife, Lea Ann Young Johnson; his parents, William “Billy” and Jean Johnson, of Russell Springs; his brothers, Charles (and Tammy) Johnson, of Russell Springs, and Joe (and Tonya) Johnson, of Columbia; his sister, Vivian (and Mark) McGaha, of Russell Springs; nephews, Sam Johnson, Alex Young, Charlie Suding, Hayden Young and Ian Young; nieces, Jennifer Renee (and Mark) Wurst, Whitney (and Alex) Burkett, Kendall (and Jordan) Bagley and Molly Suding; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kash Burkett, Charleigh Burkett, Haleigh Burkett, Pierce Bagley and Andrew Barnett; and his churches’ parishioners, who felt as they were the children Ted and Lea Ann never had.
Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Rev. Janet Carden and Bro. Dennis Price officiating. Interment will follow in Kearns Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alex Burkett, Charles Johnson, Joe Johnson, Alex Young, Charlie Suding and Jordan Bagley.
