Carson Lawless Obituary

Carson Ramsey Lawless, of Russell Springs, passed away at his home on Friday, February 17, 2023.  He was 73 years of age.

Born December 28, 1949, in Glasgow, he was a son of the late William Carson and Opal Kathleen Ramsey Lawless.  Carson was a United States Army Veteran and a paratrooper of the 101st Airborne Division, with over 200 jumps in his military career.  He was a salesman for John Deere farm equipment for more than 40 years. Carson was a member of the Caretakers Riding Club, and he enjoyed riding his motorcycle for charity, while raising money for worthy causes.  He was also a farmer, and a well-known farrier in the community.  Carson was a big-hearted man that loved his family and all those lucky enough to be part of his life.  He was a good father to his children and a good “Pa” to his grandchildren.  Carson was the type of person that never met a stranger.  For those that knew him, he was a living legend.  For those that didn’t, they missed an opportunity to gain a lifelong friend.

Survivors include three daughters, Sunni Gayle (and Craig) Leach, Cristal (and Terry) McClister, and Dawnlyn (and Mike) Stamper, all of Russell Springs; a son, Justin (and Magan) Sullivan, of Russell Springs; two sisters, Carol Lane, of Richmond, and Judith McDaniel, of St. Louis, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Bethany Carr, Haley Cook, Seth Carr, Ethan McClister, Brandon Leach, Erin Bell, Joseph McDowell, Elizabeth Stamper, Kayln Fair, Alyanna Fair, Kyle Carr, and Jordan Carr; three great-grandchildren, Gabriel Rios, Jaxon Bell, and Brylee Bell; and a  very special friend, Sandra Biven.

In addition to his parents, Carson is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Carol Browning Lawless, who passed away September 9, 2019; and a brother in-law, Harold Lane.

Funeral services are 1:00 PM CST Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Michael Carnes and Brother Kenny Kimbler officiating.  Following the service, the Caretakers Riding Club and the Motorcycle Hearse of Kentucky will lead the procession, and transport Mr. Lawless to his interment at Wolford Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the Russell County Honor Guard.

Visitation for friends and the public will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM CST Monday, February 20, 2023, and after 8:00 AM CST on Tuesday, until time of services.

Seth Carr, John Oldham, Ethan McClister, Brandon Shehan, Brandon Leach, and Jack Hadley will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers are Justin Sullivan, Craig Leach, Terry McClister, Archie Pina, Mason Coomer, John Oldham, Sr., Coy Taylor, Jerry Helm, Rick Reynolds, Ronald Lancaster, Greg Robertson, and members of the Caretakers Riding Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Caretakers Riding Club, c/o Mike Berry, 213 Dogwood Hollow Road, Jamestown, KY 42629 or Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503.
