Charles B. “Bud” Smith, Jr., of Russell Springs, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021, at his home.
Born at home, in Russell Springs, on October 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Charles Bascum and Afteel Meece Smith. Bud cattle farmed all his life, being from a family of Angus breeders. Bud was a member of the American Angus Association and the Kentucky Angus Association. He was a member of Russell Springs First Baptist Church. Bud had a great love for God, his family and Angus cattle.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Doss Smith, whom he married in June of 1990; his children, Henry Bryan Smith (and Melissa), of Russell Springs, Angela Dawn Ragle (and Mike), of Jamestown, Carla Gail Hart (and Clint), of Russell Springs, and Kacie Hood (and Troy), of Scottsville; his sisters, Charlene Harris and Deborah Popplewell (and Mike), both of Russell Springs; his grandchildren, Paul Allen Dick (and Kim), Katie Dick (and Tyler), Maggie Hart, Natalie Hart, Bryanna Smith, Blane Smith, Clare Hood, Reece Hood and Morgan Rutledge (and David); his great-grandchildren, Kylie Grace Dick and Eli Rutledge; and his step-son-in-law, J.T. Akers.
Along with his parents, Bud is preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Gosser Smith; two grandchildren, Steven Dick and Sarah Dick; step-daughter, Lindsay Akers; and brother-in-law, Limon Harris.
Funeral services are 5:00 p.m. CST, Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Russell Springs First Baptist Church, with Bro. Ryan Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 11:00 a.m. CST, on Tuesday, at Russell Springs First Baptist Church, until time for services.
Active Pallbearers will be Mike Ragle, Clint Hart, Troy Hood, Paul Allen Dick, Ryan Doss, Blane Smith and Kenley Conner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chuck Grove, Rabon Smith, Keith Jeffries, Tim Dievert, Gary Coffey and the Directors of First Bancorp.
