Christopher Scott Maynard, of Russell Springs, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset. He was 53 years old.
Born on January 1, 1972, in Columbia, Chris was the proud owner and operator of Maynard’s Lawncare, a business he built from the ground up in 2008. He took great pride in his work, but his greatest joys were found outside of work—with his family, his dogs, and the simple things in life that brought him peace.
Chris had a deep love for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed field trialing his beloved beagles, a passion that reflected his love for animals and the sport. He also found joy in trap shooting and pulling stompers with friends, pastimes that brought him laughter, competition, and lifelong friendships. He was a faithful member of Bethel Church and lived his life with a kind and generous heart.
To those who knew him, Chris was more than just a hardworking man—he was the one you could count on. He was loyal, honest, and deeply devoted to the people he loved. His family always came first, and his proudest titles were “Dad” and “Grandpa.” He will be remembered for his easy smile, his quiet strength, and the deep love he carried for his family and friends.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Tonya Greer Maynard, of Russell Springs; his son, Cody (and Zoie) Maynard, of Lawrenceburg; his daughter, Addie Maynard, of Russell Springs; his father, Earl Maynard, of Nancy; a dear family friend, Lois Hardin, of Somerset; and his four treasured grandchildren: Emma Shewmaker, John Maynard, Elizabeth Maynard, and Kaiden Maynard.
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, deep roots, and a life well-lived—a legacy that will continue through the many lives he touched.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Sherman Floyd and Bro. Barry Bradshaw officiating. Chris will be laid to rest at Bernard Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 11:00 AM on Saturday and continue until the time of services.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Cissel, Mark Hopper, John Jones, Edward Wilkerson, Greg Farmer, and Stoney Lawless.
Honorary pallbearers include Lonnie Robertson, Lynn Robertson, Tony Roy, Lynn Baldock, Michael Allen, and Billy Hale.
Chris will be deeply missed but never forgotten—his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
