Cody Wayne Downey

Cody Wayne Downey, of Russell Springs, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. He was 29 years of age.

Born December 18, 1996, in Somerset, he was a son of David and Crystal McClister George. He was employed at Dana Incorporated at the time of his passing. In his spare time, Cody enjoyed fishing and putting his mechanical skills to work whenever he had a chance.

Survivors include his parents, David and Crystal McClister George, of Russell Springs; a son, Ezekiel Kaleb Copen; grandparents, Linda George and Dale George, of Russell Springs; two brothers, Christian Downey and Zachary George, of Russell Springs; and five sisters, Kisha (and Jeremy) Darnell, of Cave City, Courtney Downey, Brooklyn Downey, Gina (and Terry) McQueary, and Emiliee Downey, of Russell Springs.

He is preceded in death by his adoptive mother, Betty Downey.

Funeral services are 1:00 PM CST Thursday January 15, 2026, at Bernard Funeral Home with Brother Scott Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Springs City Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until the time of services.

Jeremy Darnell, Chantz Montgomery, Jonathan Irvin, Hunter Gray, Tyler Epley, and Dillon Maynard will serve as pallbearers.
