Dallas Green Owens, of Russell Springs, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. He was 88 years of age.
Born on September 3, 1934, in Russell Springs, he was a son of the late Milford and Lucy Cook Owens. Dallas had a passion for farming, and it was seen throughout his life’s work; whether in the field or tinkering with his tractors. Known to never meet a stranger, he loved wrestling, NASCAR, NFL football and western movies. He enjoyed golfing and traveling with his grandson as he dj’ed music. Dallas also loved his dog, Kane.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Louise Turner of Russell Springs; one brother, Calvin (and Regina) Owens of Russell Springs; three sisters, Fern Ritchie of North Vernon, Indiana, Molly Bolin of Columbus, Indiana, and Fredia Owens of Columbus, Indiana; and four grandchildren that he raised, Loretta (and Don) McClure of Campbellsville, James (and Jamie) Noel, Jr. of North Vernon, Indiana, Jason (and Erica) Noel of North Vernon, Indiana, and Sara “Nikki” (and Jason) Hall of Bowling Green. Dallas is also survived by four grandchildren, Rachel Turner of Texas, Coy Turner, II of Scottsville, Indiana, Justin Turner of Jamestown, and Colt Wilson of Russell Springs; eight great-grandchildren, Alison (and Ethen) Spencer of Campbellsville, Jade (and Zach) McClure of Nashville, Tennessee, Devin Noel of Arizona, Jordan Noel of Arizona, Celeste Noel of North Vernon, Indiana, Dereck Noel of North Vernon, Indiana, Dylan Noel of North Vernon, Indiana and Ethan Wilson of Russell Springs; two great-great-grandchildren, Griffin Green Spencer and Lexi Rae Spencer; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dallas was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Fern Coffey Owens, who passed away March 29, 2013; one son, Alan Owens; one daughter, Mary Martha Owens Noel; one stepson, William Coffey; two brothers, Elvis Owens and Kenneth Owens; three sisters, Frances Shepherd, Flonnie Short, and Flossie Knight; and one granddaughter, Destiny Turner.
Funeral services are 12:00 P.M. on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Phillip Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Owens Family Cemetery, on Damron Creek Road.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be James Noel, Dereck Noel, Dylan Noel, Ethen Spencer, Robert Knight, Tony Ritchie, Jason Hall, and Don McClure.
