Debbie Russell

Debbie Russell, of Jamestown, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at TJ Samson Community Hospital, in Glasgow.  She was 50 years of age.

Debbie was born on December 4, 1970, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, daughter of the late Larry and Becky Doster.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Education from LaGrange College in LaGrange, Georgia.  Debbie taught elementary education for 16 years and head start for two years.  She prayed for a chance to teach and inspire the arts to children and was blessed with the appointment of Creative Arts Director of Artworks Program www.Artworksrc.org of Russell County.  Debbie cherished every moment of the four years she was given in her endeavor.  She orchestrated the first RC Celebrates Christmas On the Square, in Jamestown, two Christmases ago. 

She is survived by her husband, Scott Russell, whom she married on February 28, 1998, in LaGrange, Georgia; their children; Abby Russell and Ben Russell, of Jamestown; her brother and sister-in-law, Matt and April Doster, of Bethlehem, Georgia; her Uncle Dick and Aunt Peggy Joyner, of Milledgeville, Georgia; and her two nieces, Emma and Josie Doster, of Bethlehem, Georgia.

Due to COVID restrictions and for safety reasons, private services for the immediate family will be held Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Jamestown First Baptist Church, with Bro. Greg Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in Jamestown City Cemetery.  A Memorial Service for the community will be held at a later date.
