Derek Lee Vaughan, of Jamestown, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Taylor Regional Hospital, in Campbellsville. He was 57 years, 9 months, and 2 days of age.
Derek was born on November 5, 1966, in Columbia, a son of the late William D. “Bill” and Gloria Fay Corum Vaughan. He was a retired lineman for Duo County Telecom after 28 years. Derek enjoyed being outdoors; farming, hunting, and fishing, just to name a few. Above all, Derek loved his family and adored his grandchildren and spending time with them.
Derek leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters, Macayla Vaughan, of Jamestown, and Alexandria Popplewell, of Russell Springs; his brothers, Kenny Vaughan, of Burkesville; and Steve Vaughan, of Russell Springs; and his grandchildren, Kali and Brodie.
Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Bernard Ridge Church of God, with Brother Eric Richardson and Brother Billy Silverman officiating. Derek will be laid to rest following the service in Bernard Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Monday, at the church.
Derek’s fellow employees at Duo County Telecom will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 381056, or WJRS Food for the Needy, c/o Kem Bell, 633 Lawless Lane, Jamestown, KY 42629. Donations may also be left at the funeral home.
