Elizabeth “Betty” May Qualls, of Russell Springs, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Jean Waddle Care Center, in Somerset. She was 89 years of age.
Betty was born on May 24, 1932, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Roskos Purcell. After high school, Betty worked as a stewardess and in administration for American Airlines. After relocating to Russell County from Springfield, Ohio in 1989, she sold real estate in and around the Jamestown area. Betty was a member of Jamestown Christian Church and the Lake Cumberland Animal Welfare League.
She is survived by her nieces, Sharon (and Robert) Spallone, and Denise (and Henry) Steibing, both of Conyngham, Pennsylvania; her nephew, Ray (and Kathy) Bergeron, of Deland, Florida; her great-niece, Marie (and Phil) Yaeger, of Rainbow City, Alabama; a great-great-nephew, Nicholas Yaeger, of Rainbow City, Alabama; and special friends, Ann Wagner, Gina Loehr, Robin Pickering, Gayle Churchill, and Donna Lee; and her family from Jamestown Christian Church.
Funeral services are 12:00 noon, Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Jason Walters and Bro. Bill Welker officiating.
Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, at Bernard Funeral Home until time for services.
Inurnment will be in Mt. Laurel Memorial Cemetery in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
