Elmer Egger, of Russell Springs, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Baptist Health in Lexington. He was 88 years of age.
Born on February 15, 1937, in London, he was a son of the late Herman and Maxine Hood Egger. Elmer was a farmer and a member of Russell Springs First Baptist Church. Elmer was also a carpenter and heavy equipment operator by trade.
Survivors include his daughters, Patti (and Chuck) Carter, of Nashville, TN, and Debbie (and Charles) Blankenship, of Russell Springs; his sister, Bertha Sullivan, of Frankfort; his grandchildren, Erin (and Chris) Blankenship Potts, Joshua (and Emily) Carter, Morgan (and Britt) Carter Bowden, and Grayson (and Beth) Blankenship; and his great-grandchildren, Sawyer Potts, Sutton Potts, Emory Bowden, Blakely Bowden, Henry Carter, and Miles Carter.
In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Shirley McQueen Egger, who passed away on May 24, 2025; his brother, Conly Egger; and his sisters, Edeline Harper, and Hilda Burdine.
There will be a graveside service at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Poplar Grove Cemetery with Brother Jeric DeVore officiating. Special music will be provided by Lindsay Lyon.
Pallbearers are Erin Potts, Morgan Bowden, Grayson Blankenship, Church Carter, Patti Carter, and Debbie Blankenship.
Honorary pallbearers are Charles Blankenship, Chris Potts, and Britt Bowden.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gideon’s International. Donations can be made at the funeral home.
