Ernest "Ernie" Leonard

Ernest “Ernie” Leonard, of Russell Springs, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025, at Russell County Hospital from a heart attack. He was 54 years of age.

Born February 25, 1971, in Claremont, New Hampshire, he was a son of Darlene Leonard and the late Wayne Leonard from Russell Springs, KY. Ernie was a retired truck driver and mechanic. He was the type of person who loved to lend a helping hand.  Ernie loved to work on cars, trucks, motorcycles and anything with a motor. He loved to help his friends and family with any mechanical issues, he had a special ability to fix anything broken. He would always be willing to lend a helping hand for family and friends from roofing a barn, digging ditches, or taking care of the neighbor’s dogs, or anything someone might need  

Survivors include his beloved wife, Dorothy Leonard, of Russell Springs; mother, Darlene Leonard, of Russell Springs; brother Benjamin Leonard, of Pembroke, New Hampshire; as well as his children, family members and friends. 

Cremation rites were honored per the family’s wishes.  A memorial service will be held at a later date in Cornish, New Hampshire, where he will be laid to rest next to his father.
