Fred Scheetz Obituary

Fred C. Scheetz, of Russell Springs, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was 84 years old.

Fred was born in Springfield, Ohio, on October 13, 1939, the son of the late Audra and Russell Webster. He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Deborah Scheetz, of Russell Springs; daughters Kris (Butch) Miles of Springfield, Ohio, Shelly (David) Ratliff of Howell, Michigan, and Jodi (Rock) Powers of Marysville, Ohio; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Francis (Richard) Tossey of Springfield.

Fred was proud to be a Kentucky Colonel for over 50 years. He loved his life on his Kentucky farm with his wife, Debbie, and his constant companion, Jack Russell. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and showing them all the wonders of Kentucky.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Fred loved the outdoors. He had a special passion for beagles and beagling, and was a past president of the United Beagle Gundog Federation (UBGF). Alongside his wife, Debbie, he trained, trialed, and bred beagles, gaining a notable reputation within the UBGF family. Fred was inducted into the United Beagling Gundog Hall of Fame and proudly finished eleven beagles to field champion status within his 15 years of active membership. He even produced his own bloodline of winning beagles.

Throughout his life, Fred enjoyed playing sports including football, softball, bowling, and golf. He also loved camping, horseshoes, antiquing, and many other interests. Fred lived life to the fullest.

He retired from Navistar International Harvester as General Superintendent after 30 years of service.

Fred will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
