Gary Grizzell

Gary E. Grizzell, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021, at TJ Health Columbia Hospital, in Columbia.  He was 68 years of age.

Gary was born September 26, 1953, in Rushville, Indiana, son of the late Kenneth and Lucille Bostic Grizzell.  He worked for Fruit of the Loom in Jamestown for 18 years as a forklift driver.  Gary married Phyllis Slater at Helm’s Landing, in Jamestown.  Gary enjoyed life.  He loved his family, especially his granddaughters.  He loved going to have coffee with his buddies and visiting with his friends.  Gary was a Christian man and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Phyllis; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Nash, of Cave City, Arkansas; his brothers, Wayne Grizzell, of Highland, Texas, and Davis Grizzell, of Columbia; his sisters, Esther (and Bob) Harris, of Wilmington, South Carolina, and Jane (and Jack) Brooks, of Spiceland, Indiana; and his granddaughters, Chablee Jackson, Amber Alford and Britney Collins.

Along with his parents, Gary is preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Grizzell and Richard Grizzell.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Gary Grizzell will be held at a later date.
