Gary Lee Luttrell, of Russell Springs, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, in Lexington. He was 79 years of age.
Born on August 16, 1946, in Russell County, he was the son of the late Waldo and Lola Johnson Luttrell. After graduating high school, Gary enrolled in farrier school and spent the next 35 years being a self-employed farrier. Gary also was a mechanic at Russell Sportswear and a school bus driver for the Russell County Board of Education for 20 years. Gary enjoyed woodworking, hunting and trapping, and doing anything outdoors. Gary was a faithful member of Mt. Eden Baptist Church.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Lena Clements Luttrell, of Russell Springs; two children, John (and Erin) Luttrell and Diana Porter (and Allen), both of Russell Springs; six grandchildren, Zach, Nick, Wes, Luke, Noah, and Aidan; and four great-grandchildren. Gary is also survived by three special brothers-in-law, Kent Clements (and Kathy), of Liberty, Brent (and Tracey) Clements, of Windsor, and Phillip Clements, of Waddy.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his son, Kenny Luttrell.
Funeral services are 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Delvin Wilson and Brother Darrin Blair officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home and will continue on Friday morning, beginning at 7:30 A.M. until the time of services.
Pallbearers are Allen Roberts, Junior Smith, Rusty Dye, Glen Frost, Logan Robertson, and Timmy Antle.
Honorary pallbearers are Zach Porter, Nick Luttrell, Luke Luttrell, Noah Luttrell, Aidan Huckaby, and all of his hunting buddies.
