Geneva Stephens, of Russell Springs, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Russell County Hospital. She was 90 years of age.
Geneva was born September 26, 1931, in Russell County, daughter of the late Adeline and Maude Perkins Sullivan. She worked many years as a cook in the Russell County School System. Geneva was a member of Concord Wesleyan Church.
She loved to go to church and was considered a Prayer Warrior for many. Geneva was known as being a Good Samaritan in her community. She enjoyed gardening and canning and loved to cook for her family. She loved to piece quilts.
Her family thought of her as the best wife and mother anyone could ask for.
She is survived by her son, Eddie Lee (and Judy Mae) Stephens, of Jamestown; her daughters, Diane Meece, of Russell Springs, and Betty (and Steve) Williams, of Jamestown; her grandchildren, Timothy Lee Stephens, Jason Stephens, David (and Katie) Meece, Teresa Meece Popplewell, Holly (and Josh) Pierce and Julie Williams; and her great-grandchildren, Haylyn Pierce and Ashlyn Pierce.
Along with her parents, Geneva is preceded in death by her husband, Luther Stephens, who passed away on December 25, 2012; her granddaughter, Hannah Williams; her son-in-law, Wayne Meece; and her sisters, Della George, Ethel Miller and Reba Abner.
Funeral services are 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Ronnie Hamilton and Pastor Steve Sandefur officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Separate Baptist Church Cemetery, in Sunshine. Active pallbearers will be Jason Stephens, Timothy Stephens, Steve Williams, Josh Pierce, Greg Cox and Ronnie Cox. David Meece will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.
Visitation will be held after 1:00 p.m., Monday, until time for funeral services.
