Howard V. Gaskins, 82 years of age, of Russell Springs, departed for his Heavenly home on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Russell County Hospital.
Howard was born on June 20, 1942, in Jamestown, a son of the late Arlis “Ted” and Opal Morrow Gaskins. Howard was a veteran of the US Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. Howard made a career as a carpenter and contractor, working for himself as well as other businesses. He was of the Baptist faith and taught Sunday School in years past. Howard attended Faith General Church. He loved fishing and hunting, especially turkey hunting. Howard loved his family dearly and loved spending time with his grandbabies.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 58 years, Carolyn Gaskins, of Russell Springs; his children, Karen (and Danny) Abrell and Jeff (and Sharon) Gaskins; his grandchildren, Keri (and Doug) Lawless, Tony (and Katie) Gaskins, Kasey (and Aaron) Wilkerson, and Natosha (and Jesse) Chitwood; and a host of great-grandchildren. Howard is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Carnahan and Joyce Withers; and one brother, Dean Gaskins.
In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen Gaskins, Danny Gaskins, Joe Gaskins, and Bobby Gaskins; and his sisters, Wilma Ballenger and Jean Gaskins.
Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Shane Gaskins officiating. Burial will follow in Brockman-Kerr Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Russell County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
