J.H. McFarland

John Henry “J.H.” McFarland, Sr., of Russell Springs, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at his home.  He was 73 years of age.

J.H. was born in Russell Springs on April 29, 1948, son of the late Arnold and Flora White McFarland.  He worked for General Motors for over 31 years.  J.H. was a gifted banjo and guitar player.  He was known for his impressive gardening skills and tending his gardens was his favorite thing to do.  J.H. also enjoyed going hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his sons, John McFarland, Jr., of Russell Springs, and Kris Eschenbach, of Wabash, Indiana; his daughter, Rebecca Brewer, of Russell Springs; his brother, Darrell (and Paulette) McFarland, of Windsor; his sister, Ann (and Eris) Dunbar, of Russell Springs; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, J.H. is preceded in death by his wife, Pamela McFarland; and his siblings, Everest McFarland, Juanita Dunbar, Ruth Hadley, Donald McFarland, Roger McFarland and David McFarland.

Funeral services are 4:00 p.m., CST, Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Billy Silverman officiating. 

Visitation will be held after 2:30 p.m., CST, on Sunday, in the funeral home chapel, until time for services.
