James Eddie Ponder, of Creelsboro, joined our Father in Heaven on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington at the age of 75.
James was born Friday, April 8, 1949, in Livingston, one of eight sons born to the late Sherman Hugh and Gladys Kirby Ponder. He would play his guitar in praise at Creelsboro Christian Church, where he was an elder. James was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved to sit and watch the river from the deck of his house. He was a hard worker and could assure you that he was always right. James loved the Lord, loved his family and loved Fox News.
He is survived by his wife, Diane King Ponder, whom he married December 23, 1967; their children, Ginger Leigh (and Raymond) Mark, of DeLand, Florida, Melissa Dianne (and Earl) Mark, of DeLeon Springs, Florida, and Jamie Lynn (and Gabriel) Edwards, of DeLand, Florida; his brothers, Oscar Lee (and Lynn) Ponder, of Montana, and Mike Wade (and Jeanie) Ponder, of Florida; his sister-in-law, Sue Ponder; his niece, LeAnn (and Bryan) Simpson; grandchildren, Christopher (and Erika) Mark, Megan Mark, Sommer (and Chris) Proctor, Sidney (and Colleen) Rohr, Matthew (and Haley) Mark, Michael Mark, Alek Rohr and Deklin Rohr; and his great-grandchildren, Jameson Rohr, Wyatt J. Proctor, and “one on the way” Baby Rohr.
Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by five of his brothers.
Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2025, at Creelsboro Christian Church, with Bro. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Dixon Cemetery.
Per James’ wishes, no visitation will be held.
