Jewell Lee Thomas, of Russell Springs, passed from this life to her heavenly reward on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Casey County Hospital, having attained the age of 89 years and 11 months.
Ms. Jewell was born Thursday, May 2, 1935, in Casey County, daughter of the late Willie and Ella Florence Minton. September 26, 1951, at the age of 16, Jewell married her sweetheart, Tracy Thomas. Together they celebrated over 70 years of marriage. She was a member of the Patterson Chapel Church of Christ.
Always glad to see you, she was a lady who could make you feel loved and appreciated. Ms. Jewell had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She wanted to make sure that if you came to her home, you were fed. She was the best Mother you could have. It was well known to her family that her kids and grandkids were her world.
Ms. Jewell is survived by her six children, her sons, Jerry (and Stacey) Thomas, of Columbia, Jackie (and Jeannie) Thomas, of Russell Springs, Andy (and Andrea) Thomas, of Russell Springs, and her daughters, Geniece Lee Thomas, of Nancy, Linda (and Tim) Gregg, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Brenda (and Larry) Phillips, of Russell Springs; her grandchildren, Stacy, Taylor, Derek, Cameron, Aquinna, Jessica, Bethany, Andrew, Nick, Heather, Timmy and Cathy; her twelve great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Imogene Minton, of Windsor.
Along with her parents, Jewell is preceded in death by her husband, Tracy Thomas, who passed away March 22, 2022; and her siblings, brothers Jimmy Minton, Vernon Minton, Stanley Minton, Oral Minton and Clarence Minton, and her sisters, Sadie Clines, Marie Gaines and Freida Luttrell.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Gerald Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkerson Cemetery. Jewell’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 12:00 noon, Sunday, until time of funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made at the Bank of Jamestown to the Wilkerson Cemetery Fund account.
