Jim Hamlett

James Russell “Jim” Hamlett, Jr., of Russell Springs, and a native of Mount Washington, passed away on Wednesday August 3, 2022, at Russell County Hospital, in Russell Springs.  He was 64 years of age.

Jim was born in Louisville on September 18, 1957, son of the late James Russell, Sr. and Barbara Curtsinger Hamlett.  He married Grace Beeson on May 22, 1982, in West Beauchel, and the two had hardly left the other’s side in the forty years since.  Jim was a technical and computer genius; he loved carpentry work and could fix about anything in his shop behind the house.  He loved to fish and he loved his church, Russell Springs Christian Church.  Jim was an avid musician and could play the banjo, mandolin, guitar; anything with strings. 

Jim was a true “good ole country boy” and was proud to be an American; "if it was broke, he fixed it, if it needed to be done, it was done".

He is survived by his wife, Grace; his children, Michael (and Michelle) Jacobs, Margie (and Elton) Cole, Becky Jacobs and Bryan Jacobs; his brother, Thomas Hamlett; his sister, Theresa Hamlett; his grandchildren, Abigail Jacobs, Bradley Jacobs, Aubree Jacobs, Joshua Liner, Christian Liner, Alexandrea (and Jamie) Budd, Joseph (and Amber) Riddle, Whitney Riddle, Timothy Lee Jacobs, II, Imyia Jacobs, Seth Jacobs, Logan Jacobs and Kayla Jacobs; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Timothy Lee Jacobs.

Funeral services are 3:00 p.m., CST, Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Russell Springs Christian Church, with Bro. Donnie Emerson officiating. 

Visitation will be held Sunday, after 1:30 p.m., CST, at Russell Springs Christian Church, until time for services.
