Joan Carol (Bernard) Cunningham

Joan Carol Bernard Cunningham, of Waddy, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center, in Frankfort. She was 77 years of age.

Born on September 23, 1944, in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Bayard Glen “G.B.” and Clora Lawless Bernard. Joan Carol obtained her master’s degree in Library Science and was a former librarian for Shelby County High School. She enjoyed camping and traveling across the United States with her husband, Roger. Joan Carol can best be described as a “people person,” who loved to meet people and talk with them on any occasion.

Joan Carol is survived by her husband, Roger Cunningham, of Waddy, whom she wed on August 28, 1962; two sons, Chris Cunningham, and Patrick (and Jennifer) Cunningham, both of Lexington; and two grandchildren, Karina Cunningham, and Liam Cunningham, both of Lexington.

Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Stan Linzey officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday, October 23, 2021, and from 8:00 A.M. until service time on Sunday, at Bernard Funeral Home.
