Karen Hislope, of Russell Springs, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, in Danville. She was 68 years of age.
Born on December 02, 1956, in Harriman, TN, she was a daughter of the late Don and Laura Eloise Brown Johnson. Karen was a former factory worker at Fruit of the Loom and a member of Coffey’s Chapel Community Church. Karen considered herself a “homebody” and enjoyed being in the comforts of her own home when she wasn’t working.
Karen is survived by her brother, Barren (and Lisa) Johnson, of Russell Springs; her stepson, Richard (and Jennifer) Bennett; her stepdaughter, Cristy Coffey; her step grandchildren, Jalen (and Brittany) Bennett; Olivia (and Collin) Huntsman, and Kenneka Coffey (and Matt VanHook); seven step great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her first husband, Garvin Bennett; her second husband, Stan Hislope; and two sisters, Donita Lawless; and Michelle Stearns.
Per Karen’s wishes, cremation rites were honored by Bernard Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Coffey’s Chapel Community Church, with Brother Jeff Karnes officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the memorial service on Friday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of sympathy be made to Coffey’s Chapel Community Church Building Fund.
