Lawrence B Robertson

Lawrence “Poppy” B. Robertson, 96, passed away peacefully at the home of his grandchildren, Joe and Scarlett Cmiel, in Cloverdale, IN, on May 30, 2021.  Poppy was born on September 12, 1924, to the late Melvin and Mary Belle (Hill) Robertson and was one of eight children.  He was the last surviving sibling, having been preceded in death by his brothers, Luther, Lester, Lucian, and Larry; and sisters, Lurie, Lorene (Nelson) and Lora Pearl (Hadley).  Poppy loved gardening, making people smile, and everything “Kentucky.”  For every day of the more than seven years he was in Indiana with Joe and Scarlett, he wished he was back home in his beloved Russell Springs, KY. 

Poppy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Louella (Ashbrook) Robertson, and daughters, Linda Lou (Moore) and Loretta Sue.  Poppy is survived by his grandchildren, Scarlett (Joe) Cmiel, Mitchell (Barbara) Reynolds, and Randon (Kim) Reynolds; five great-grandchildren, Cody (Jessica), Randi Lin, Dakota, Alexandra, and Conner; and a host of nieces and nephews who he greatly enjoyed spending time with throughout his life.

Funeral services for Lawrence “Poppy” B. Robertson are 2:00 PM CST Sunday, June 6, 2021, at  Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Mullins officiating.  Burial will follow in McElroy Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Joseph Cmeil, Mitchell Reynolds, Cody Phillips, Conner Reynolds, Mason Warrum and Connor Jaynes.

Masonic Rites will be performed by the Russell Springs Masonic Lodge #941.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM CST Sunday, at Bernard Funeral Home.
