Linda Wood Obituary

Linda Carol Grider Wood, of Henderson, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Lucy Smith King Hospice Care Center, in Henderson. She was 76 years of age.

Born in Russell County, on June 11, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Clifton and Myrtle Pike Grider. After high school, Linda attended Lindsey Wilson College and Western Kentucky University.  Linda had many jobs throughout her life, bank teller, manager of KFC, and Goody’s department store. She was very passionate about animals and frequently volunteered at New Hope Animal Rescue Center. Linda was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include her husband, David Wood, of Henderson; her son, Kip (and Nicole) Collier; and two grandchildren, Jacob and Caleb.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Clifton Thomas Grider; and her sister Barbara Grider.

Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Christian Naylor officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, and will continue on Sunday morning, from 7:30 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Hope Animal Rescue Center, 526 Atkinson St, Henderson, Kentucky 42420.
