Louis Stargel Obituary

Louis Stargel, of Russell Springs, Kentucky, passed away on November 17, 2020, at his home.  He was 77 years of age.

Born on April 8, 1943, in Russell County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Elvis and Lorene Withers Stargel.  Louis was retired from the United States Navy after seventeen and one-half years of service. During this time, he served during the Vietnam War.  Louis enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Carter Stargel of Russell Springs, whom he wed on December 19, 1966; one son, Louis (and Tonya) Stargel, Jr. of Russell Springs, one daughter, Cindy Stargel of Russell Springs; four grandchildren, Crystal, Tiffany, Madison, and Nicholas; and eight great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Kaeden, Azlynn, Ayla, Baylee, Chloe, Arlo, and Owen. Louis is also survived by three brothers; Dennis (and Pamela) Martin of Louisville, Jimmy (and Kay) Stargel of Glasgow, Roger (and Gina) Stargel of Russell Springs; and three sisters, Sandra (and Harry) Hainey of Nancy, Janet (and Sam) Loy of Russell Springs, and Debbie (and Tommy) Whittle of Russell Springs.

In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherri Stargel; and two brothers, Earl Wayne Stargel and David Stargel.

Due to COVID restrictions, graveside services will be held privately for family only Saturday, November 21, 2020, at New Friendship Cemetery with Brother Charles Edwards officiating.  Burial will follow the service with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard.

Social distancing guidelines must be followed by everyone in attendance.  Facial coverings are required.
