Mary Irene Miller

Mary Irene Miller, of Russell Springs, passed away at her home Saturday, September 3, 2022. She was 94 years of age.

Born July 11, 1928, in Jamestown, she was a daughter of the late Willie Claude and Bertha Coffey Blakely.  Irene was a member of New Victory Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening and spending time on her front porch watching traffic come and go. Irene was an excellent mother to her children and deeply loved all her family.  After her dear husband, Russell, passed away in 1992, she saw the need to become independent.  With the help of her granddaughter, Holly, Irene passed the exams and got her driver’s license at the age of sixty-six.

Survivors include a son, Wendell (and Carolyn) Miller, of Russell Springs; a daughter, Brenda (and Terry) Wilson, of Bronston; a sister-in-law, Louise Wooten, of Russell Springs; four grandchildren, Holly Jo (and Eric) Barnes, Travis Wilson, Lauren Wilson, and Alex (and Kisha) Miller; a step-grandson, Joey (and Jill) Wilson; five great-grandchildren, Ian Barnes, Mason Wilson, Maddox Wilson, Madelyn Miller, and Addison Miller; three step great-grandchildren, Cloe Wilson, Cayden Wilson, and Kelton Wilson; as well as several special people who were her caregivers over the last few years.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by husband of forty-three years, Joe Russell Miller; three brothers, Oral Blakey, Earl Blakey, and Orvin Blakey; and a sister, Helen Blakey Lawless.

Funeral services for Irene will be at 1:00 PM CST Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Rick Neff officiating.  Burial will follow in Dixon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM CST until time of services, at the funeral home.

Pall bearers will be Terry Wilson, Alex Miller, Keith Railsback, Ian Barnes, Mitchell Lawless, and Eric Barnes.
