Mayme Helm Obituary

Mayme June Helm, of Jamestown, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Russell County Hospital.  She was 88 years of age.

Mayme was born in Russell County on June 22, 1934, daughter of the late Porter Elmer and Nell Shearer Wooldridge.  She was a life-long member of Fairview Separate Baptist Church.  Mayme married Elwood Helm on April 26, 1952.  There were three children born to their union. 

She was a dairy farmer, alongside her husband, Elwood.  Mayme worked as a seamstress for Fruit of the Loom, of Jamestown, for a time as a waitress and as an employee at the state park.  She enjoyed reading.

Mayme is survived by her son, Mark Helm, of Jamestown; her daughters, Judy (and Mike) Rexroat and Janice (and Garry) Weir, both of Russell Springs; her brother, Marshall (and June) Wooldridge, of Russell Springs; nine grandchildren, Shelley (and Troy) Bishop, Kelly Kelsey, Casey (and Hillary) Rexroat, Brian (and Crystal) Weir, Derek (and Brittany) Weir, Lukas Helm, Regan Helm, Jansen (and Caleb) Reader and Jordan (and Elizabeth) Helm; and seven great-grandchildren, Callie Bishop, Makenzie Kelsey, Jake Bishop, Corrine Rexroat, Camille Rexroat, Caleb Weir and Colton Weir.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Porter and Nell Wooldridge; her husband of fifty-seven years, Elwood Helm, who passed away July 1, 2009; her sister, Maxine Garner; and a brother, who died in infancy.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Fairview Separate Baptist Church, with Bro. Doug Baldwin and Bro. Roger Garner officiating.  Special music will be provided by Janice Popplewell.  Interment will follow in Dixon Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Casey Rexroat, Jake Bishop, Brian Weir, Derek Weir, Lukas Helm and Jordan Helm.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, and after 8:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church.
