Ola Jean Garner, of Russell Springs, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family, Thursday June 26, 2025. She was 88 years of age.
Born January 25, 1937, in Eli, she was the only child of the late Avery Lee and Evie Wilson Harris. Jean was a former employee of Russell Sportswear and a Dietary Manager for Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation, retiring at the age of 76. She was a great cook, enjoyed growing flowers, and gardening. Jean loved her family deeply; they were her “pride and joy.” Her favorite vacation memories were her trips to Canada staying at the Twin Oaks Lodge with her boys.
Survivors include two sons, Greg (Sherry) Garner, of Versailles, and Mike (Debbie) Garner, of Lexington; daughter, Vicki Roy, of Russell Springs; six grandchildren, Beth Kimbler, Marci Kazsuk, Chad Roy, Karen King, Kaylan Aubrey, and Hunter Garner; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Garner; son, Gary Dean Garner; and grandson, Jared Garner.
Funeral services are 1:30 PM CST Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Billy Silverman officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11:00 AM CST Saturday, and continue until time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Union Cemetery Fund. These can be left at the funeral home.
