Rhonda Kay West

Rhonda Kay West, of Russell Springs, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, in Somerset. She was 65 years of age.

Rhonda was born in Muncie, Indiana on December 9, 1955, daughter of the late Henry Ed and Bonnie Sue Duddleston Withers. After high school, Rhonda attended college and graduated from vocational school with her sewing machine mechanic license. She soon after became head mechanic at Lakeland Manufacturing, in Columbia. Rhonda spent time working as a truck driver and route salesperson for the Columbia Candy Company, then worked for H & R Block, doing tax preparation. She had continued doing taxes for herself for thirty years since.

Rhonda married Gary “Randy” West on September 13, 1974, at First Baptist Church of Russell Springs (now Liberty Baptist Church) with Bro. Gilbert Sapp officiating. The couple has worked side by side in their own concession business since 1994. Their business, Zakks Snacks, would travel all around Kentucky, working different festivals and events.

Rhonda liked to be on the go. She loved doing stuff outside and spending time with family. Rhonda always looked forward to holiday meals with family.

She is survived by her husband of over 47 years, Gary “Randy” West; their son, Jeremie (and Tish) West, of Russell Springs; her sister, Brenda Withers (and Randall) Blakey, of Russell Springs; her grandchildren, Zakk West, of Versailles, and Kila West, of Russell Springs; two special cousins, Delilah “Tootie” Selby and Stacy Coe, both of Russell Springs; her sisters-in-law, Rebecca Parvin and Margaret (and Jim) Fulcher, both of Nancy, and Lisa (and Johnny) Wilson, of Eubank; her brothers-in-law, Danny (and Hazel) West, of Beech Grove, Bobby (and Josephine) West, of Hickory Nut, Anthony (and Linda) West, of Dayton, Ohio, and Tommy (and Sophie) West, of Ard Ridge; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Rhonda is preceded by her brother, Kem Withers, who passed away in infancy.

Funeral services are 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Danny Withers officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m., Thursday, until time for services, in the funeral home chapel.

Rhonda’s pallbearers are Randall Blakey, Daniel Polston, Jacob Polston, Bobby West, Jim Fulcher, and Terry West.
