Husband, father, grandfather and brother, Rodney “Scotty” Scott, of Russell Springs, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at his home. He was 65 years of age.
Rodney was born Wednesday, March 2, 1960, to the late Maze and Joy Dunbar Scott. He married Thelma Popplewell on April 1, 1978, and three children were born to this union. Rodney was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and had been a heavy equipment operator for Gaddie Shamrock for over 42 years. He enjoyed watching UK basketball and Duck Dynasty, loved farming and was known to buy corn just to feed the deer that came across his property.
There was a special place in Rodney’s heart for his three grandbabies.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 47 years, Thelma Scott; his son, Zach (and Haley) Scott, of Russell Springs; his daughter, Chrissy (and Wayne) Burke, of Lawrenceburg; his brother, Barry Scott, of Lexington; his sisters, Charlotte Marr, of Bowling Green, Judy Evans, of Versailles, and Tamara Scott, of Edmonton; and his grandbabies, Ciara McQueary, Jordyn McQueary and Ellison Scott.
Along with his parents, Rodney is preceded in death by his son, Neil Scott; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Bill Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Zach Scott, Jordyn McQueary, George Atwood, Mark Fudge, Gus Campbell and Gary Burgess. Honorary pallbearers are Lynn Baldock and Jimmie Acree.
Visitation will be held after 10:00 a.m. Thursday, until time of funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland in Memory of Rodney at 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503 or may be made at the funeral home.
