Rosa Stephens of Russell Springs, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at her home. She was 89 years of age.
Born on November 15, 1936, in Jamestown, she was a daughter of the late William Everette and Mollie Jane Chrisman Foster. Rosa was a member of the first graduating class from Russell County High School. She was a retired CNA for Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation. Rosa was a lifelong housewife and mother. She was a member of Bernard Ridge Church of God, being the longest active member.
Rosa is survived by her son-in-law, Charlie Murray, of Russell Springs; her granddaughters, Brenna (and Charlie) Mullennex, of Louisville and Amy Murray, of Columbia; her great-grandchildren, Whitley Stephens, Shaylen Hatcher, Emma Sims, Jeremiah Bottom, and Charles Madden Mullennex; her great-great-grandchild, Aspyn Sims; and a special niece and caregiver, Emilee Stephens, of Russell Springs; and special caregivers, Diane Daniel and Cassie Adams.
In addition to her parents, Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Arvester “R.V.” Stephens, who passed away on June 13, 2016; her daughter, Teresa Murray; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Brendan Hatcher; her brothers, William Foster, Virgil Foster, and Virlan Foster; and her sisters, Della Diamond and Izel Riggs.
Funeral services are 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Bernard Ridge Church of God, with Brother Eric Richardson and Brother Scott Proctor officiating. Special music will be provided by Dianna Hughes and Jeanie Crockett. Burial will follow in Bernard Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00- 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 26, 2026, and from 9:00 A.M. until the times of services on Saturday, at Bernard Ridge Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of sympathy be made to Bernard Ridge Cemetery Fund, c/o Jackie Aaron, 1765 Stephens Ridge Road, Russell Springs, KY 42642.
Pallbearers are Justin Stephens, Charlie Murray, Charlie Mullennex, Jackie Aaron, Randy Goen, and Avery Gerald Coffey.
