Shirley Sue (McQueen) Egger

Shirley Sue Egger, of Russell Springs, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Russell County Hospital.  She was 85 years of age.

Born January 13, 1940, in London, KY, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Thelma Johnson McQueen. Shirley worked as a secretary for Lake Cumberland Area Development District and was a faithful member of Russell Springs First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 65 years, William Elmer Egger, of Russell Springs; two daughters, Debbie (Charles) Blankenship, of Russell Springs, and Patti (Chuck) Carter, of Nashville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Erin Blankenship Potts (Chris), Joshua G. Carter (Emily), Morgan Carter Bowden (Britt), and Grayson C. Blankenship; and six great grandchildren, Sawyer Potts, Sutton Potts, Emory Bowden, Blakely Bowden, Henry Carter, and Miles Carter.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four siblings, John E. McQueen, Betty Pruitt, Bill McQueen, and David McQueen.

Funeral services are 1:00 PM CST Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Russell Springs First Baptist Church, with Bro. Christian Naylor and Bro. Jeric Devore officiating.  Burial will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 11:00 AM Thursday, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests expressions of sympathy be made as donations to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1737, Russell Springs, KY 42642, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  These can also be given at the church.
