Susie Myrtle Todd, of Columbia, passed from this life on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, having attained the age of 80 years, 11 months and one day.
Ms. Susie was born in Creelsboro on Saturday, April 8, 1944, daughter of the late James Earl “Cedric” and Jessie Marie George Birdwell. She worked many years as a nurse’s aide in nursing homes, worked at the sewing factory and for a while as a cook.
Ms. Susie would be “up with the chickens and to bed with the roosters”, she loved drinking coffee and eating cookies. She enjoyed listening to the radio but hated TV and wanted to be outside. She loved to go rock hunting and finding shapes in the clouds. Ms. Susie enjoyed gardening and the beauty of flowers. She liked to be on the go, whether it was riding along the creek or getting out to go yard sale-ing where she could hunt for new pieces of jewelry. Ms. Susie read books, worked puzzle books and loved to color.
She is survived by her son, Randall Selby, of Columbia; her daughter, Susan Gunter (and Michael Pike) of Columbia; her sister, Mae Rexroat, of Columbia; two granddaughters, Jessica Bales and Tiffany Bales, both of Elizabethtown; her stepson, Dan Selby, of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Ms. Susie is preceded in death by her husband, George Curtis Todd; her son, James Ralph Selby; her brothers, David Birdwell, Phillip Birdwell, Joe Birdwell and William Birdwell; and her sisters, Eva Ray Garner and Mattie Guffey.
A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Grider Cemetery, with Bro. Bobby Bow officiating.
