Welby Ross Dabney, of Jamestown, passed away on Monday, July 07, 2025, at Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation, in Jamestown. He was 90 years of age.
Ross was born in Somerset, on May 3, 1935, a son of the late John Garfield and Frances Wilson Dabney. Ross served 2 years in the Army, deploying to Korea, before being honorably discharged as an SP3. After returning from Korea, he attended a vocational school in Somerset, becoming a licensed machinist. Ross worked as a machinist for many years, both for himself and at Universal Machine and Tool in Georgetown.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Barnes Dabney, of Jamestown; and his son, Richard Dabney, of Nebraska.
In addition to his parents, Ross was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services are 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Ed Parton officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Springs City Cemetery with full military honors performed by the Russell County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be members of the Russell County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Russell County Honor Guard. Donations can be made at the funeral home.
