,Lt. Col. O. D. Robertson, 82, of Russell Springs, died

Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Jean Waddle Care Center

in Somerset, Ky. He was born December 23, 1932 in

Russell County to the late Fred & Olie Gertrude Cunningham

Robertson.

He was a retired Lt. Col. in the US Air Force and was a member

of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ Church.

O.D. served in the Air Force from 1955 until his retirement in

1975 as a Lt. Col. He flew some 240 combat missions in Vietnam

(1968-1969). He received numerous citations and medals; however,

the one he was most proud of was the Army Commendation Medal,

which was an extremely high honor for an Air Force person to receive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a

grandaughter, Katelan Robertson; 6 sisters, Mabel (infant)

Robertson, Mildred Smith, Freda Wilson, Hope Tarter, Treva

Foley, Geneva Reeves and a brother, Royce Felton Robertson.

Survivors

Soul Mate: Genova Dean Vaught, her daughter Ginger and

grandaughter, Samantha

3 children: Cheryl (Chris) Smith

                   Carla (Michael) Lopez

                   Lt. Col. Jeffery (Roxanne) Robertson, all of San Antonio, TX

2 grandsons: Jonathan Robertson, Zachary Robertson

1 great grandson: Eli James Robertson

Funeral service for Lt. Col. O. D. Robertson will be 10 AM. CDT.

Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with

David Ransdell officiating.

Visitation will be after 5 PM. Monday.

Burial in the Mill Springs National Cemetery with full military honors

Pallbearers: Terry Robertson, Mitchell Robertson, Mike Robertson,

                     Walter Robertson, Gary D. Robertson, Gary T. Robertson,

                     Benjamin Robertson

The family requests memorials be made to the Poplar Grove Cemetery

or Hospice of Lake Cumberland. These can be made at the funeral home.
